Working on a well can be very dangerous to you and/or damaging to the ground water. If you are a landowner be sure to hire a professional Licensed Well Contractor when building, repairing, modifying or abandoning a well.
Residential well owners
By law, as an individual land owner you must hire a licensed well contractor to construct a new well or make changes to your well. Only residential well owners may construct, repair or upgrade their well without a licence.
For businesses
By law, you must hire a licensed well contractor to construct a new well or make changes to your well if you’re a:
- business corporation
- partnership
- sole proprietor
- government agency
To find a contractor
Well contractors must:
- be licenced
- use licensed well technicians – of the proper class of licence
Licensed contractors are required to use licensed well technicians, of the proper class of licence, to conduct or supervise any work being done on your well. Ask to see the licence of your contractor and the well technician (e.g., driller, digger or pump installer) before they begin work on your well.
